PALS Program

In 2007, the Library embarked on a resource-sharing project with public libraries in the Blue Sky Region. The project called PALS (Public and Academic Libraries Sharing) is a partnership that allows students, faculty and staff at Canadore College free membership in nine public libraries in and around North Bay. The public libraries offer a range of resources and services including: Wi-Fi, local history collections, best sellers, genealogy, book clubs and experienced staff. Likewise, the Education Centre Library offers free PALS membership to current card holders from those nine public libraries.

Canadore College and Nipissing University have partnered to build an ultra-modern library building designed by an award-winning architectural firm. Construction on the new facility will begin in the Spring of 2009. The Learning Library will be a focal point of the Education Centre Campus. It will combine excellent service with improved space to enhance the total learning experience. Students and faculty will appreciate quiet study spaces, collaborative workrooms, group instruction rooms, computer commons, a reading terrace and a coffee bar.
