Interactive Multimedia

The explosion of interactive digital media in the home and workplace is creating new opportunities for effective communications. While most of us are convinced that technology will ensure our competitiveness in a changing marketplace, we are also aware that it will be the users of the technology, not the technology itself, who will ensure we are competitive in a global society.

Canadore College’s Interactive Multimedia post-graduate program is one of the best ranked in the province according to the KPI survey. You will be developing a variety of products and documents using over a dozen different applications. Some of the industry leading applications include 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Audition, Encore and MS Project. As a student in the program you will also have the opportunity to work on server technology and create database driven websites.

Producers of information, mass communications, training, and entertainment are looking to digital media platforms to deliver their messages. Digital media consists of any or all of the following elements: video, audio, graphics, text, digital images, and animation, delivered in an interactive electronic format.

This program offers an awesome, fast-paced year filled with exciting projects that will push the technology as you increase your expertise. During the second semester, you will focus on the development of a number of large projects delivered on CD, DVD or dynamically over broadband Internet. You will design, test and create interactive activities and computer games. By incorporating 3D objects and animations into your products with a high level of interactivity, you will achieve results that rival many professional products on the market.

This program is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and attitude required by digital media production specialists. It includes several projects that require independent research. You are encouraged to take your learning into your own hands. This characteristic will assist you after graduation as you pursue your career. Remember, our world is involved in lifelong learning. You are the manager.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must be a graduate of at least a two-year postsecondary program with strong academic standing. You may also apply for admission through prior learning assessment. (see academic policies)
