The School of Communication Arts is home to Canadore’s own Artist in Residence, Keith Campbell.
Keith Campbell is a renowned professional craftsperson, producing work since 1970. His pieces have been exhibited nationally and internationally in approximately 260 exhibitions, winning over 43 awards and honours.
When asked about his work Campbell stated that his work has evolved from one-of-a-kind functional/decorative objects to a more sculptural format.
“My most recent work is focused on subject matter with a satirical view of historical Canadian myths, people, and events. I usually prefer to work in porcelain, but will work with stoneware clay for some pieces to get certain effects.” Campbell uses multiple decorative techniques such as air brushing, spraying, photo stencil, drawing, brush, sgraffito as well as numerous other techniques to achieve the required results.” “I find that the process to create my work is time consuming, but in the end it’s worth the journey.”
Campbell’s works are displayed throughout Canadore - in offices, student spaces and display cases. Pottery courses, available through Continuing Education each semester, are taught in the Pottery Studio located at the College Drive Campus in Hewgill Hall.
