The Community Resource Consultant Certificate will provide you with the general principles and techniques needed for working with children and young adults with exceptionalities.
Participants of the program will be able to choose areas of specialization and apply the principles learned to those areas. This allows for a high degree of flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of the community and to the individuals enrolled in the program.
When working with individuals with exceptionalities, continual creativity and ability to problem-solve, as well as familiarity with new techniques and strategies for working in inclusive environments are prime considerations for continual and new employment opportunities. This certificate program will enhance various diplomas in the Human Services area.
The program consists of 270 hours of theory and 100 hours of practical experience. The classroom learning combines lectures, audio-visual presentations, group discussions/activities, and hands-on demonstration. The practical experience will take place in a work setting that provides services to persons at risk of or having exceptionalities. Emphasis will be placed on working cooperatively with the supporting teacher and families to integrate individual program plans within a family perspective.
