English as a Second Language

Investing in becoming bilingual is investing in your future. The two-semester English as a Second Language program is designed to meet the needs of Canadian and international students whose first language is not English. At present, the college focuses on the intermediate level, from low to advanced. With more than 20 years of experience in teaching ESL, the college has a well-established reputation for delivering quality education in a caring and supportive environment.

There are many reasons to choose ESL at Canadore College:

  • The program is approved by the Ministry of Education and Training
  • We have well-qualified instructors with many years of experience
  • You will learn in a state-of-the-art Can8 language laboratory
  • We offer small, friendly classes

When you complete all courses in the program with a final grade of A, B, or C, you will receive a certificate from the college. If you graduate from the program with an academic average of A or B, you are considered to be functionally bilingual and able to successfully complete most postsecondary programs in English-speaking institutions.

In this program, you will find a variety of learning experiences: classroom work, group activities, teamwork, exercises in the language lab and tutoring groups.

Give yourself the advantage of speaking two languages; you will reap the rewards professionally, socially, and personally.
