Having trouble deciding on your future career? The General Arts and Science program will help you find direction while learning the vital skills you need to make an informed decision.
This program will provide you with the opportunity to achieve the following goals:
explore career options
acquire necessary prerequisites for admission into college programs or industrial skills training
prepare for access to some university programs
strengthen academic, interpersonal and learning skills
These goals are achieved in an ideal learning environment that includes small classes, caring faculty and staff, a creative curriculum, and a scenic campus.
On the basis of placement assessments in English and mathematics, and personal interviews, you will be guided into one of the following four certificate programs:
Aboriginal General Arts and Science (one year)
General Arts and Science (one year)
Preparatory Health Sciences (one year)
Transitions to Preparatory Health Sciences (one year)
*Program Length: Students spend two semesters in the General Arts and Science certificate program. A General Arts and Science certificate is achieved when a student earns 50 General Arts and Science credits (or equivalent) with a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Admission Requirements
Ontario Secondary School Diploma at or above the general level or its equivalent.
Mature Students: Ontario residents aged 19 or over without the OSSD will be considered on the basis of their results on the College’s Mature Student Test.
Graduates of the new Ontario Secondary School Curriculum: Ontario Secondary School Diploma with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/ College (M), or Open (O) preparation levels.
Required courses: Grade 12 Compulsory English (ENG 4C or ENG 4U).
