Canadore Students' Council
As we approach the new 2012-13 academic year, Canadore College is pleased to announce that a new student council will provide an expanded range of student activities for the benefit of all Canadore students.
The new student-operated organization – the Canadore Students’ Council (CSC) – will be representative of our culturally-diverse student body and will be in place to plan and deliver a fuller student experience through an enhanced roster of activities. It will do that with unprecedented transparency and accountability to the Canadore student body.
Comprised of Canadore student representatives including those from the Panther Athletic Council and the Canadore Aboriginal Students Association (CASA), the new Canadore Student’s Council will assume all planning and execution of student activities formerly handled by the Canadore Student’s Representative Council (CSRC).
Under the new arrangement, The Wall student pub will now be operated by Chartwells, Canadore’s current hospitality services operator. All net profit generated will flow back to the recognized student organizations – CSC and Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) – for student activities.
Canadore will ensure that you have the best student experience possible, including orientation week which will include live music, a boat cruise, Shinerama fundraising, family activities, sports, nature and food events. The council will also host an AGM, cultural events, and job and career preparation workshops.
We look forward to an exceptional academic year. See you soon on campus. Meanwhile, keep checking your email for exciting information about student orientation, activities and other updates from your Canadore Students’ Council.
Sincerely,
George Burton
President, Canadore College
