Early Childhood Education
Get the skills you need to start a rewarding career working with children. This activity-based program is taught using a holistic approach in which the stages of a child’s developmental growth as well as cognitive skills and socio-emotional development are emphasized.
You will also gain the expertise and abilities necessary to operate an early childhood centre. The program includes an outdoor environmental education component and a full-day kindergarten course. The placement component of this program offers you hands-on, real-world experience.
Note: Graduates can apply to become members of the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Program Prerequisites
OSSD or equivalent Grade 12 Compulsory English (ENG4C or ENG4U)
Other Requirements
A completed Canadore College Health Centre form including medical history, immunization record, Hepatitis B vaccination, and a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) test is required. Please see the online student registration handbook for more information.
If you have been convicted of an offence under the Criminal Code for which you have not been pardoned, you may be ineligible for field/clinical placements. A yearly police check will be required for placements and can be obtained from the police department upon payment of a fee; all associated costs will be the responsibility of the student.
