External Scholarships

External organizations also provide assistance to our students. Students are encouraged to apply for these external awards, scholarships and/or bursaries. Application procedures and deadlines are specific to each one of these awards, so please confirm these details prior to applying.


2012 Accessible Media Inc. Scholarship Program

AMI is proud to introduce the 2012 Accessible Media Inc. Scholarship Program. Two scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded, one of which will be reserved for a student with a permanent disability. To be eligible for the Accessible Media Inc. Scholarship Program, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Be a student planning to enrol, or continuing to be enrolled, in full-time studies in a diploma or degree program at a Canadian post-secondary school in the 2012/2013 academic term
  • Students who attend or will be attending a Canadian post-secondary school in the 2012/2013 academic term in a reduced course load due to a permanent disability, but who are still considered by their post-secondary institution to be full-time students, are also eligible.

Canadian Cancer Society Gertrude and LeRoy Rellinger Youth Volunteer Scholarship

Over the next 10 years, up to 2 scholarships valued at $5000 each will be awarded to Society volunteers up to the age of 21 who are entering a post-secondary institution and have made a significant contribution to the organization’s mission. Through their volunteer activities with CCS, these youth have demonstrated exceptional commitment to eradicating cancer and improving the quality of life for people living with cancer and their families.

Assignment Saving Lives Bursary Program!

Here is some basic information regarding the program:

  • You must currently be enrolled in Grade 11 or 12 or post secondary school this year, and returning to school in September 2012
  • You are encouraged to attend an orientation session to gain valuable information on how to best recruit donors. Should you not be able to attend a session, a telephone orientation will be arranged
  • To qualify for a bursary you must recruit a minimum of 20 blood donors, five of them being new donors
  • The program runs June 1 – Sept 3, 2012
  • You must be registered for the program by July 14, 2012
  • A $1,000 bursary will be given to the recruiter with the most overall number of units and a $1,500 bursary will be awarded to the recruiter with the most overall number of new donors.

To get started, please fill out the attached registration form and return it to Joanne Drake at joanne.drake@hotmail.com or by fax at 705-688-7393.

Once your registration is received, you will be given information on orientation session dates so you can begin recruiting blood donors right away!


Electro-Federation Canada Scholarship Foundation

Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) is pleased to launch the 2012 EFC Corporate Sponsorship program providing Canadian post-secondary students the opportunity to receive over $100,000 through 45 scholarships.

Over 40 organizations in the electrical and consumer electronics sectors are providing financial support through the EFC Scholarship Foundation to assist bright Canadian university and college students achieve their career objectives.

Supporting students for 16 years, the EFC Foundation Scholarship Program encourages Canadian youth to pursue a career in the electrical, electronics, and telecommunications industries. To date, EFC has invested almost $600,000 in the post-secondary technical training and education.

The EFC Foundation Scholarships are awarded to post-secondary students studying in an electrical or electronics concentration including electrical apprenticeship, electrical engineering technology, electrical technician, electrical engineering, supply chain management or business administration. Scholarships are also awarded on the basis of academic achievement, areas of study, leadership, and career interests.

Indspire - Indigenous education, Canada's future

Building Brighter Futures

Indspire, formerly the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, has evolved into the largest non-governmental funding body for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis post secondary students across Canada. Bursary and scholarship awards are provided to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students annually across a diverse range of disciplines.

In total, Indspire has disbursed over $42.7 million to over 11,500 recipients since its inception. Indspire offers financial assistance (scholarships and bursaries) through four major categories: Post Secondary Education, Fine Arts, Health Careers, and Oil & Gas Aboriginal Trades & Technology. National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) Financial Aid Portal

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is pleased to announce the availability of its new financial aid portal for students with disabilities: www.DisabilityAwards.ca.

With the support of the Canada Student Loan Program and the Office for Disability Issues, NEADS has developed a site containing over 300 scholarships, awards and bursaries specifically for post-secondary students with disabilities.


JOHN WESLEY BEAVER MEMORIAL AWARDS

Two awards are available annually to qualified students - one female and one male - of Native ancestry (Status, Non-status, Metis or Inuit). Each Award is valued at $4,000. To apply, students need to be either entering or attending a college or university in Ontario. The deadline for applications is Friday, June 1, 2012.
